2008 AUCTION NEWS

Thanks to everyone who donated items for our auction. There are many wonderful items, and keep your fingers crossed that the auction goes well.

This is the schedule for the auction. Volunteers will be needed to hang the quilts and work during the auction.

REMAINING CHALLENGES FOR THE GUILD YEAR

The First Place Winner for the AT THE MOVIES CHALLENGE was Sue Schillig.

It had quotes from the movie Gone With the Wind written all around the binding.

July 10, 2008 AT THE BEACH CHALLENGE

It's July, it's hot, and we are going to the beach. Make a quilt that represents what you like the best about going to the beach.

September 11, 2008 NURSERY TALES CHALLENGE
Make a quilt based on your favorite Fairy Tale or Nursery Rhyme.

RULES:These are the rules for the quilt challenges
Size Requirement : any size up to and NOT exceeding 45" on any side
You may use any technique that you wish to construct your quilt
The quilt must be in 3 layers, but it doesn't necessarily have to be traditional construction
The edges of the quilt must be closed. Use any method such as traditional binding, zigzag, etc.

August 15, 2008 CHRISTMAS TREE SKIRT CHALLENGE - To benefit Genesis House. Make a tree skirt any shape. The first place winner will be donated to our auction. And all other entries will be used for the Genesis House Tree skirts in the coming years.

THE LORAIN COUNTY PIECEMAKER BI-ANNUAL AUCTION - November 8th, 2008 At FAVA Gallery 39 S. Main Street, Oberlin. All pieces for the auction are due at the August 15th meeting. No pieces for the auction will be accepted after this date.

GUILD WINNERS AT LAKE FARMPARK


AUSTRALIAN WALKABOUT - by Nancy Garver from a Karen Stone Design won third in the Small Wallhanging category
LINCOLN LOGS- Made by Beverly MacBeth won a Second place in the Pieced quilts, hand quilted category and one of the big prizes for Best Representation for a Traditional Quilt.

Our meeting was Cindy O. from QUILTERS FANCY. She brought tons of CLOVER NOTIONS and unusual fabrics and ribbons for embellishing. She also brought along one of the traveling PIECEMAKERS TIMES AND SEASONS CALENDAR QUILTS
